the night after christmas

At 11 o clock Christmas night we made our way to Milan.  (Just me and the boys, Clint is continually slaving over his thesis. ) We spent the night with 3 other people that were hit and kicked for 8 hours while my boys restlessly slept until we reached MILANO.  We spent a week seeing Milan, Como and a little cucciola named Melanie-  Then we got on a nice fast train, that got us home just in time for paca and gigi. We have now spent another week touring the Amalfi coast which is incredible.  And enjoying great food and fun and never boaring company.  We  have loved every minute of Christmas vacation and are a bit sad to start school but that is what we have to do, here is to a new school year.

Another first day of school

We just had our first day of school today ( I really can’t believe we are doing kindergarten).  Both boys were so excited for school.  Z’ach cried when we left him, and Abe cried becasue he wanted to stay at zachs school.  When I picked him up after school,Zach came out with a somber and worried face, but apperently that was just becasue he didn’t see me in the crowed of parent, He thought maybe I didn’t understand where and what time I needed too pick him up.( I made one mistake last year and he just can’t forget)  But once he saw me he told me what a great day he had.  We are happy to be here another year, Clint got a job for the year so, I am so glad we only have to do first day of  a new school once this year.

Today is the day before ferragosto,  There is no one here except tourists now.  All the locals go on vacation and close everything down for a week or two.  We can cross the  street everyday infront of our house becasue there is not much traffic, unfortunatly this also means that the public trasportation is  running a little less often.  But non the less we are SO happy to be here.

We have really enjoyed these past few months we have been really blessed with fun and much needed visitors. Each visitor had just the right medicine for us.  Thank you dear friends for coming and taking home paintings and thank you especially to mom, For all the love, encouragment and fun that  you brought with you.

Unfortunatly the camera situation has not been all that great, but here are just a few pictures and hopefully more to come.

Buon Ferragosto

The past few weeks have brought so many great days.  The weather the season and the people have made life so much fun.  We are so grateful for all our friends and family. We spent another year here in Rome during the Easter season, the other whitings came and stayed with us this year. During this vacation from our daily life we ate some really great food, thanks to barbara, pina and Bracciano. We did many new and fun activities, from seeing the Pope to weeding a garden.  In Rome we get two weeks off to celebrate Easter, little Easter and  May 1st.  Love it!!!! Also the Beatification of Pope John Paul happened this year during this vacation, hundreds of thousands came to Rome, to be a part of this. Including Kathryn and Josh, although they did not come to Rome, they though they could still be a part of the Rome scene in Venice , lucky for them I was able to bring a little bit of Rome to them.  Thanks again Kathryn and Josh for providing me with the longest shower I have had in over a year.

Jared, came to visit and we saw and experienced so many new things.  I was pretty sure that we had done most everything, boy was I wrong!!!!!  We ate at this amazing vegetarian/vegan restaurant. We went to the church of the bones, visited some catacombs, the forum and went to Tivoli. And of course we did all the usual stuff.  Lucky for Jared he came during the one week of the year where the state museums of rome are free (Colosseum and forum etc.)  We miss Jared already.  Jared thanks for leaving your phone.
